INEC recognizes Baba-Ahmed as PRP national chairman after convention
INEC has updated its official portal to recognize Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed as National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party, following the party's National Convention held in Abuja on March 28. The updated leadership list also includes Mr Kanu Uchenna as National Secretary, Dr Bayawo Abdullahi as National Treasurer, Mr Chuka Patrick as National Financial Secretary, and Mr Vincent Okudu as National Legal Adviser. This formal recognition was confirmed in a statement by PRP National Publicity Secretary Ishaq Muhammed issued on Friday in Abuja. The development comes amid internal disagreements within the party, as the PRP Vanguard faction has rejected the convention as unlawful. The faction's Chairman, Abdulmajid Yakubu-Daudus, claims the new leadership seeks to transform PRP into a platform for 'discredited politicians' from other opposition parties. 'The PRP remains a socialist-oriented party committed to the emancipation of the masses, not a vehicle for capitalist interests,' he stated, emphasizing the party's founding principles by 'working class, progressive intellectuals and the toiling masses.'
