International Breweries Plc set September 16, 2026 as the qualification date for its previously approved N84 billion Return of Capital. Shareholders whose names appear in the Register of Members at close of business on that date will receive N0.50 per share, paid from the company's share premium account. The Register of Members will be closed on September 17 to finalize the list, with payment scheduled for September 23. The return follows SEC approval, shareholder sanction at the July 30 AGM, and Federal High Court endorsement.

This matters because it delivers cash to investors despite the company's inability to declare traditional dividends due to accumulated losses. With INTBREW shares trading at N10 on September 14, the N0.50 payout represents a 5% yield at current prices. The capital return underscores a financial turnaround: the brewer posted N85.1 billion pre-tax profit in 2025 after a N111.8 billion loss in 2024, driven by revenue growth and reduced foreign exchange losses.

If you hold INTBREW shares, ensure your name is in the register by September 16 to qualify; payment will be made September 23 via your broker or CSCS. Note that dividends remain unavailable because of losses, making this capital return the primary shareholder reward. Consider whether to hold for the payout or sell before the qualification date, especially given the stock's 28.6% year-to-date decline and recent volatility between N9.20 and N15.20.
