PPLAAF and the Anti-Corruption Data Collective released a report on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, linking 284 U.S. properties valued at about $271 million to 61 current and former Nigerian officials, their families, associates and affiliated companies. The investigation found that 152 of those properties, worth roughly $177 million, were purchased while the officials were in office, and 230 properties worth about $232 million were bought without apparent financing. Additionally, 147 properties valued at approximately $111 million were acquired in the officials’ own names or through entities registered to them. Of the 61 individuals examined, 39 have been publicly accused, indicted or sentenced for corruption, including former National Security Adviser Sambo Dasuki, former pension task force chairman Abdulrasheed Maina, ex-governors Orji Kalu, Chimaroke Nnamani, the late Ajibola Ajimobi, and former ministers Stella Oduah and Chris Ngige. The report urges Nigerian and American authorities to investigate the assets, trace the source of funds, and pursue recovery under forfeiture laws, noting that the properties could represent proceeds of corruption. Will citizens and regulators push for asset recovery and accountability, or will these holdings remain beyond reach?
