On Wednesday, IPOB spokesman Emma Powerful announced that leader Nnamdi Kanu dissolved the 3rd Directorate of State (DOS) administration headed by Chika Edoziem and inaugurated a 4th administration with US-based Mazi Chris Nwaogu as its head. The statement cited the outgoing administration's abandonment of detained Biafrans—particularly those held for years without trial at Wawa Military Barracks in Niger State—as its most grievous failure, noting many suffered or died in detention while survivors allegedly accepted unfavorable terms to secure freedom.

Powerful also accused the 3rd administration of misplaced priorities, internal distractions (gossip, blackmail, factional rivalries), failure to protect movement integrity, and compromising strategic communication channels during critical periods. According to the announcement, these shortcomings weakened cohesion, diminished public confidence, and undermined the Biafra restoration project's effectiveness despite facing external attacks.

The new 4th administration includes Deputy Head Mazi Solomon Egbo, Finance Head Nwada Ogwu Nnennaya Anya, Medical & Welfare Planning Head Dr. Chukwudi Nwogwugwu, Media Head Barrister Ikechukwu Onuoha, and continental representatives for Africa, North America, Europe, Asia, and Middle East. Kanu mandated the team to rebuild unity, restore accountability, prioritize prisoner welfare, and advance self-determination with renewed focus. All prior suspensions/expulsions have been set aside for reintegration. The development signals IPOB's internal course correction after nearly a decade of Edoziem-led leadership, directly addressing criticisms that the movement neglected its most committed members while pursuing broader objectives.
