Iran's parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf confirmed US-Iran peace talks in Pakistan collapsed yesterday (April 11) due to America's inability to gain Tehran's trust. Ghalibaf, who led the Iranian delegation, cited 'experiences of the two previous wars' as the reason for Iran's lack of confidence in Washington. Despite Iran's 'forward-looking initiatives' and good faith engagement, Ghalibaf wrote on social media: 'America has comprehended our logic and principles, and now it is time for it to determine whether it can earn our trust or not?'

Previous points of contention included Iran's nuclear program and transit through the Strait of Hormuz. Pakistan mediated the talks but failed to bridge the divide between the adversaries.

Meanwhile, Iran's internet blackout reached its 44th day today (April 12), setting global records for prolonged shutdowns in a connected society. According to NetBlocks, the censorship has surpassed 1,032 hours, isolating ordinary citizens from each other and the world while allowing limited officials to maintain online presence. This follows a January blackout during nationwide protests.

With Iran's internet infrastructure effectively cut off and diplomatic relations frozen, how will international community address both the humanitarian crisis of information isolation and the geopolitical tensions in the region?
