Former Iranian diplomat Abbas Khamayar told Al Jazeera that Iran is losing patience with the ongoing US naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, saying surprise preparations are underway in decision‑making circles. He warned that if Washington does not reaffirm its commitment to existing agreements, significant confrontations could erupt, potentially involving other regions and affecting both regional and global levels.

For Nigeria, a major oil exporter, any disruption in the Strait—through which about 20% of the world’s oil passes—could trigger oil price spikes, raise shipping costs, and influence local fuel prices and inflation. Higher oil prices might boost export revenues but also increase costs for consumers and businesses reliant on fuel.

Monitor global oil market trends and consider fuel‑efficiency measures or alternative energy options to mitigate potential price shocks. Will you adjust your budget for possible fuel price increases or explore alternative energy sources?
