Iran's newly appointed Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei vowed to continue the war against Israel and the United States during his first televised address, urging citizens to remain united. He confirmed the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed after Iran shut the vital shipping route due to the conflict. Khamenei also indicated military operations targeting American bases in the region would persist and suggested Houthi fighters from Yemen could join the conflict. He praised Iran's armed forces for confronting the US and Israel, pledging continued resistance. The announcement follows his appointment by Iran's constitutional body of clerics after his father, former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, died in missile strikes linked to the ongoing hostilities. Over 1,300 people have reportedly died in Iran since the war began, with eight US soldiers and at least 13 fatalities confirmed in Israel.
