Isaac Fayose reacted in a video to Edo Governor Monday Okpebholo's claim that UK fuel prices over N3,000 per litre prove President Tinubu's economic stabilization. Okpebholo stated after visiting London, he checked fuel costs and found it exceeded N3,000/litre after naira conversion, declaring 'we are doing very well here.'

Fayose countered that the comparison ignored critical income differences. With Nigeria's minimum wage at N70,000, a worker earns enough for only about 49 litres of fuel monthly. Meanwhile, UK minimum wage between £13-£15 hourly translates to roughly £2,000 or N4 million monthly—allowing far greater fuel purchasing power. He emphasized UK workers also benefit from free healthcare, good roads, and stable electricity unavailable to many Nigerians.

The debate underscores that assessing economic policies requires comparing fuel affordability relative to incomes, not just nominal prices. Should Nigerians evaluate stabilization claims based solely on fuel cost conversions, or must wage levels and essential service access determine real economic well-being?
