Itodo: Blame Political Class for 2027 Election Failure

Executive Director Samson Itodo of Yiaga Africa has warned Nigerians to hold the political class accountable if the 2027 general elections fail. Speaking on Arise Television, Itodo stated a section of politicians is undermining electoral reforms to gain power. He criticized unresolved issues including the timetable confusion, the unpassed budget for the election, and INEC's funding shortfall. Itodo emphasized that public interest must override partisanship to avoid repeating 2023's electoral challenges. "Blame only the political class if anything goes wrong with the 2027 election," he said, noting the amendment process remains incomplete despite two years of debate.
