JAMB awards N750m to top tertiary institutions for admission compliance, ABU Zaria gets N500m
JAMB announced eight tertiary institutions as winners of the 2025 National Tertiary Admissions Performance Merit Award (NATAP-M) yesterday following its Abuja policy meeting, distributing a total prize fund of N750 million based on compliance with admission guidelines and CAPS processing.
Ahmadu Bello University Zaria won the overall prize of N500 million for scoring six points, while University of Jos got N75 million as runner-up. University of Ilorin, LASU, Nile University and Akwa Ibom University each received N25 million as joint second runners-up. Kaduna State Polytechnic and Kaduna State College of Education won N50 million each as best polytechnic and college of education.
The awards recognize institutions achieving nationwide admission spread, minimum 1,500 admissions, fair catchment distribution, and full CAPS compliance. JAMB also announced that full award winners like ABU Zaria will only be eligible for nominal prizes for the next five years to prevent consecutive wins. For students and parents seeking transparent admissions, these institutions demonstrate proven adherence to JAMB's standards - but note ABU Zaria won't compete for the full award again until 2031.
