JAMB shifts 2027 UTME first session to 7:30 AM arrival, 8:30 AM start
JAMB has adjusted the arrival and examination times for the first session of the 2027 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Candidates must now arrive at Computer-Based Test centres by 7:30 AM instead of 6:30 AM, with the exam running from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM. The change addresses safety and logistical concerns about very early-morning travel, particularly for candidates journeying long distances who previously had to leave home before dawn.
This decision followed extensive discussions at JAMB's 2026 Management and IT Retreat held in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State from September 6 to 11, 2026. The retreat specifically considered public feedback about early arrival difficulties. JAMB states the adjustment will improve candidate safety and convenience while potentially reducing absenteeism linked to the previous schedule.
Importantly, this change applies only to the first session of the 2027 UTME; other examination sessions will retain JAMB's established timing arrangements.
