JAMB will convene on Monday, 11 May 2026 with the heads of all Nigerian universities, polytechnics and colleges of education to determine the National Minimum Tolerable UTME score (NTMUS) for the 2026 admission exercise. The meeting, announced by JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin, will also feature the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, unveiling key policy directions for the upcoming academic year. Historically, the NTMUS has been set at 140 for universities and 100 for polytechnics and colleges of education, though individual institutions may adopt higher cut-offs. The UTME is scored out of 400, with candidates needing to meet or exceed the national minimum to be eligible for admission consideration. After the deliberations, JAMB will publish the approved cut-off points on its official portal, guiding prospective students on the scores required for various institutions. Candidates are advised to monitor the JAMB website for the announcement and to target scores comfortably above the historical thresholds to improve their admission chances across preferred universities, polytechnics or colleges of education.
