JAMB waives UTME for Education, Agriculture non-engineering candidates
JAMB announced on Monday May 11 2026 via X that candidates seeking admission into Education programmes and Agriculture-related non-engineering courses are exempted from the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for the 2026 admission cycle.
This change removes the UTME requirement for thousands of prospective students applying to Colleges of Education and Agriculture non-engineering courses, saving them exam fees, preparation time, and aligning with the federal government's recent scrapping of UTME for Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) programmes. It streamlines admission but other requirements like O'Level results and post‑screening may still apply.
Candidates should verify the update on JAMB's official portal (jamb.gov.ng) or X handle, ensure they meet the specific course criteria, and prepare any required supplementary admission steps. The waiver applies only to Education and Agriculture non‑engineering fields; all other courses still require UTME. Registration for the 2026 UTME remains open for other candidates, with details to be announced by JAMB.
