JAMB withholds results for underage 2026 UTME candidates, explains evaluation process
JAMB confirms it has not released results for underage candidates who sat the 2026 UTME, with the checking portal showing "No Result Yet" for these candidates. The clarification comes after parents raised concerns about their children's missing results on the results checking platform.
According to JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin, this status applies specifically to candidates below the approved age threshold of 16 years. Candidates must be at least 16 by September 30, 2026 to be eligible for regular UTME registration and results release.
For academically gifted underage candidates seeking exception, JAMB requires: minimum 320 UTME score, at least 80% in university post-UTME screening, minimum 80% in SSCE, with science candidates needing Mathematics among top subjects and arts candidates requiring English Language. These candidates must undergo dedicated post-UTME screening even where universities have suspended general post-UTME processes.
JAMB registrar Is-haq Oloyede stated only candidates scoring 320+ proceed to further screening, as agreed with parents. Underage candidates' results remain withheld until the complete evaluation process finishes. Meanwhile, JAMB continues phased release of results for eligible candidates, having already released over 632,000 from the April 16 examination day.
What this means for parents and candidates: If you're seeing "No Result Yet" and the candidate is under 16, this is expected per JAMB policy. For gifted candidates aiming for the 320+ threshold, prepare for additional screening including university post-UTME and SSCE requirements before results can be considered for admission.
