Jigawa anti-corruption body partners with NILDS to boost accountability through training
Jigawa State's Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (JPCACC) and the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) signed an MoU in Abuja to strengthen institutional capacity and promote democratic governance. The agreement formalizes discussions since April 2026, focusing on joint capacity building, executive education, specialized training, research, and policy development for JPCACC officers.
JPCACC Chairman Salisu Abdu stated the partnership will expose officers to global best practices in public administration, ethics, investigative techniques, and anti-corruption strategies, improving service delivery to Jigawa residents. He emphasized that the MoU represents a framework for sustained institutional development, producing practical programmes and measurable outcomes through joint training and knowledge exchange.
Abdu credited Governor Umar Namadi's visionary leadership for enabling JPCACC's establishment under the 2022 State Law, noting the governor's support for transparency and human capital development was crucial. NILDS Director-General Prof Abubakar Sulaiman highlighted that the collaboration translates agreements into practical outcomes, leveraging NILDS' network of former legislators, professors, and researchers to strengthen accountability systems nationwide.
This partnership means JPCACC may handle public complaints more effectively using enhanced investigative methods and policy insights, potentially improving governance and anti-corruption efforts across Jigawa State.
