In a statement issued on behalf of the government, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Hamisu Mohammed Gumel, said the state authorities had been fully aware of the case from the moment it came to light and had taken proactive steps to follow it up. While appreciating the concern, solidarity and prayers expressed by members of the public, the government appealed for calm, urging citizens to allow due legal and official processes to take their course.
