JTF warns of possible terror attacks during Eid El Kabir, urges public to pray locally and report threats
The Joint Task Force (Operation HADIN KAI) has issued a security alert warning of possible isolated attacks by Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists during the 2026 Eid El Kabir celebrations, citing indications of planned suicide bomber and IED strikes in crowded public spaces. Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, JTF Media Information Officer, made the statement on Monday, noting intensified patrols and full activation of ISR assets ahead of Wednesday's festivities.
The warning specifically targets areas of high population concentration including markets, motor parks, banking halls, and prayer grounds, as Muslim faithful prepare for Eid observations. JTF has deployed troops and surveillance systems while coordinating with CJTF, police, and community vigilance groups to maintain security throughout the celebration period.
Members of the public are strongly advised to conduct Eid prayers and festivities close to their homes and familiar localities, avoid large open gatherings where practicable, and exercise heightened vigilance in crowded spaces. The public should immediately report any suspicious persons, unattended objects, or unusual movements to the nearest military checkpoint, police station, or civil-military liaison point.
JTF also cautioned against spreading unverified information or rumors that could cause public panic, urging reliance solely on official government and security channels for updates. Traditional rulers, religious leaders, and community stakeholders are called upon to actively engage communities and encourage timely reporting of credible security information.
Will you follow JTF's advice to pray locally and avoid crowds, or risk attending larger public events despite the security warning?
