Adamu Ibrahim Bakori made the remarks while unveiling activities lined up to mark the 2026 Police Day, with a strong focus on community engagement, public safety, and trust-building. He described the initiative as a demonstration of the police’s commitment to addressing security challenges and improving the quality of life for residents. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1524595905268-5'); }); Bakori commended the people of Kano for their cooperation with security agencies, noting that their support had enabled the police to entrench community policing and thereby remove many criminals from the state. The Kano State Police Command announced that this year’s celebration, themed “Community Partnership: Building Trust,” will feature a week-long series of programmes designed to bridge the gap between officers and the public. The event, held annually in honour of the Nigeria Police Force, will see personnel embark on environmental sanitation exercises across key locations, medical outreach, a live radio programme, interactions with students of the Northwest University, and a football match, all aimed at supporting local communities. In a move to boost visibility and unity, officers are also scheduled to participate in a coordinated walkathon, symbolising closer ties with residents and reinforcing public confidence in policing efforts. The command, according to Commissioner of Police Bakori, will further intensify public sensitisation campaigns, focusing on the prevention of electoral violence and other crimes, while also commending residents for their complementary role in the fight against crime in the state. The activities will culminate in a national grand finale slated for April 7, 2026, in Abuja. CP Bakori reassured residents of the command’s unwavering dedication to maintaining peace and security across the State, stressing that effective policing thrives on sustained collaboration with the public. The command has also called on citizens to actively participate in the events, describing the celebration as not merely a commemoration, but a renewed call for unity in the fight against crime.
