Kano fire destroys ₦5bn worth of Singa Market properties
Southern Governors’ Forum commiserates with Kano govt over Singa Market inferno. The fire reportedly destroyed properties worth over ₦5 billion, affecting more than 1,000 businesses and leaving seven persons missing. Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun described the incident as one of the most unfortunate tragedies in the market's history, urging traders not to lose hope as Kano State Government takes steps to support victims. The destruction of four residential buildings housing small-scale businesses alongside equipment and merchandise represents a heavy blow to many families' livelihoods. Abiodun called on market authorities to implement measures to prevent future occurrences.
