Nollywood actor Francis Duru died this morning at 57 after a brief illness. Veteran actor and ADC chieftain Kenneth Okonkwo led tributes on X, calling Duru "a talent that will never be forgotten" and praising his rare humility in an industry where "genuine humility is sometimes rare."

Okonkwo, who described Duru as a "dear younger colleague," said he always believed Duru had much more to offer Nollywood. He highlighted Duru's exceptional gift, passion for craft, and respect for others despite his talent. "You stood out in a special way," Okonkwo wrote, signing off with "Sleep well, young Ahanna."

The loss reverberates across Nollywood. Kanayo O. Kanayo and other colleagues have also mourned Duru, with Kanayo calling him a "consummate actor" who has "left the stage." Duru's death follows recent industry losses, prompting reactions about mortality in the entertainment community.

Details on funeral arrangements have not been announced. Okonkwo's tribute underscores a value often overlooked in entertainment: that character matters as much as craft.
