Dutch airline KLM has suspended all flights to Dubai, Riyadh, Dammam, and Tel Aviv "until further notice" due to regional airspace risks. The airline stated it is avoiding the airspace of Iran, Iraq, Israel, and several Gulf countries as a precaution, citing ongoing geopolitical tensions. Passengers affected by cancellations have been informed. KLM said it will not rebook passengers on flights scheduled for January 24 or 25, noting other carriers are also suspending services. Affected travelers can request a voucher or a full refund.

This follows wider aviation disruption since late December 2025, with unrest and geopolitical tensions prompting carriers to reroute flights. Air France resumed Dubai services on January 24 after a one-day pause. Lufthansa bypassed Iranian and Iraqi airspace for limited Tel Aviv and Amman flights between January 14 and 19. British Airways suspended Bahrain flights from January 16 to 24, while Finnair rerouted Doha and Dubai flights over Saudi Arabia. The situation reflects heightened tensions in the region, with international powers monitoring developments closely.

If you have upcoming travel to or through the Middle East, check directly with your airline for the latest routing and cancellation policies. Are you willing to accept rerouted flights with longer travel times, or will you postpone non-essential trips until airspace normalises?
