Kwankwaso breaks silence on ADC future, confirms NDC/PRP talks but insists no defection decision made
Former presidential candidate Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso stated in a Saturday night release that he remains a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) despite ongoing legal battles affecting the party, though he acknowledged decamping remains possible. He confirmed holding consultative meetings with leaders of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) to explore options for protecting democratic interests amid ADC's challenges.
Kwankwaso emphasized that no final decision has been made regarding his political future or presidential ambitions for 2027, noting he has neither declared intention to run nor endorsed any aspirant. He attributed his absence from two recent ADC stakeholders' meetings to unavoidable personal commitments, saying he apologized to party leadership. The ADC faces legal pressure including a Federal High Court ruling that delegitimized its recent convention and the Attorney General's application to deregister the party.
He stated any definitive position on ADC's direction will be communicated formally through official channels at the appropriate time, urging against premature speculation about his defection.
