NDC chieftain Rabi'u Kwankwaso calls on Nigerians to look beyond tribe and religion in the 2027 general elections. Kwankwaso made this call on Sunday in an interview with Trust TV, stating that the North and Muslims cannot play politics without Christians and Southern Nigeria.

The former presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party acknowledged Peter Obi's popularity across Nigeria. "Peter Obi is a very popular politician in the entire South and many parts of Northern Nigeria," he said, adding that the same applies to the Kwankwasiyya movement.

Kwankwaso emphasized his supporters are mainly young people looking for change rather than favoritism. "We are lucky that our supporters are mainly young men and women who are looking for a way out. They are not looking for their brothers or their sisters or somebody close," he stated.

As Nigeria approaches the 2027 elections, this call for unity across ethnic and religious lines could signal a shift in political dynamics. Will this unity message gain traction with other politicians, and will young voters continue to support movements that transcend traditional political divisions?
