Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, vice‑presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) alongside Peter Obi, said on Sunday, October 18, 2026 that the party will not withdraw its candidature for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) or any other political platform. He dismissed the ADC as a better alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), arguing that the APC‑led government has failed Nigerians and the ADC offers no improved option.

Kwankwaso accused the ADC presidential campaign council of focusing attacks on him, Obi and the NDC instead of convincing Nigerians to support its own candidate. He also rejected claims that the NDC is collaborating with the APC or would step aside for the ADC as the 2027 election approaches, insisting the NDC is pursuing its own political ambition and has no plan to work for the ruling party. He urged NDC supporters and like‑minded Nigerians to intensify efforts to secure victory in 2027, describing the party as a strong opposition platform capable of tackling insecurity, education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure and economic challenges.

With the opposition fragmented, will voters view the NDC’s stand‑alone stance as a credible alternative to both APC and ADC, or will they consider aligning with one of the two major parties for a stronger chance at unseating the incumbent?
