The development was disclosed in a statement issued on April 28 2026, on the official X page of the Kwara State Police Command. According to the statement, operatives of the Command’s anti-kidnapping unit carried out the operation on April 23 at Oke-Iya community, acting on intelligence and working alongside local vigilantes and forest guards. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1524595905268-5'); }); Police said three suspects – Idris Umar, Muhammed Usman and Abdullahi Abubakar – were first apprehended in connection with a recent attack in Idiya community, where five persons were reportedly kidnapped. The Command noted that two of the victims had earlier escaped from captivity before the arrests were made. Further investigations led to the arrest of two additional suspects, identified as Mohammad Awal and Sani Mallam Musa, believed to be linked to the same operation. Items recovered during the raid include a locally fabricated rifle modified to fire AK-47 ammunition, as well as eight rounds of live ammunition. “The suspects are currently in custody, while investigations is ongoing,” the statement said. The police added that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
