Labour Party warns public to ignore fraudulent social media accounts claiming official updates
The Labour Party stated today it does not operate any social media accounts for public communication, responding to a fraudulent X account @LabourpartyNGR_ spreading false information. The party said this is the same account previously disowned in February, which merely changed its name and handle to continue misleading the public. Labour Party claims its only known social media presence—currently inactive—are Facebook: Labour Party-Nig (~12,000 followers) and X: LabourPartyNG (~837,000 followers). It has petitioned the Nigerian Police to recover its official X account from former leaders, noting Julius Abure and Umar Farouk are cooperating with investigators. The party specifically denied a recent false claim via these accounts that Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso are returning, calling it entirely unauthorized. All official Labour Party information is disseminated solely through press statements from the Office of the Interim National Chairman, with any changes to be formally announced. The public is strongly advised to ignore content from @LabourpartyNGR_ and LabourPartyNG.
