Two people died and two others sustained serious injuries in a road crash involving a Suzuki commercial bus (registration KTU 333 YF) and a pickup van along the Adekunle corridor, inward Iyana Oworo, Lagos. The incident occurred earlier today, with LASTMA operatives responding to the scene, coordinating rescue efforts, and securing the area. The injured victims—a man and a woman—were taken to General Hospital, Odan for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were handed over to the Lagos State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit (SEHMU/SHEMU). LASTMA also handed over the vehicles and the bus driver to Yaba Police Division officers, who maintained order until operations concluded.

This crash adds to Lagos' ongoing road safety challenges, as LASTMA recorded 69 deaths and 246 injuries in road crashes across the state between January and March, according to Radio Nigeria Lagos. During that same period, the agency attended to over 600 accident scenes. LASTMA General Manager Olalekan Bakare-Oki expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery, urging motorists to obey traffic regulations, observe speed limits, maintain safe following distances, and ensure vehicle roadworthiness.

The agency did not disclose the cause of this specific crash. With the Adekunle corridor being a key route for commuters traveling inward from Iyana Oworo, drivers should consider alternative paths or exercise heightened caution in the area until normal traffic flow resumes. Will you adjust your route through this corridor today, or proceed with extra vigilance given the recent spike in Lagos road incidents?
