In a sharp editorial, Dr. Edwin Mukoto argues that Colleen Mero Yesufu's campaign of petitions and media attacks has turned a land dispute into Rebecca Omokamo Godwin-Isaac's punishment before judgment.

The dispute involves Plot 4022, where Rebecca maintains she purchased and developed the property through legitimate transactions. Despite pleading not guilty with no court conviction, Yesufu's representatives reportedly petitioned the Presidency, EFCC, Police, FCT Administration and Immigration Service. On June 29, 2026, EFCC allegedly seized the property, disconnecting water, electricity and cooking gas while restricting access to family and lawyers.

A Federal High Court order on July 3, 2026 mandated status quo ante bellum - restoring conditions prior to the enforcement action. The author questions whether EFCC acted neutrally or to benefit one private claimant, noting the seizure was hailed as restoring Colleen's fortune before ownership was finally determined.

When disputed property becomes grounds for depriving basic utilities and restricting legal access, Nigerians must ask: Who is truly being protected by institutional power, and who is being oppressed?
