Liberia has invited Niger Tornadoes goalkeeper Derrick Daddy Julu for the first time ahead of their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against Cape Verde. The shot-stopper earned the call-up after keeping three clean sheets in four appearances for the Minna-based NPFL side this month.

The Lone Star travel to Praia for a matchday three clash on Friday, November 13, then host Cape Verde in Monrovia four days later on matchday four. Liberia are desperate for points after losing their opening two qualifiers—a 3-1 defeat away to Rwanda and a 1-0 home loss to Mali.

Julu's inclusion adds competition to Liberia's goalkeeping department as they attempt to revive a campaign that has yielded zero points from two games. The 2027 AFCON qualifiers resume after a lengthy break, with the November window critical for Liberia's qualification hopes.

For NPFL followers, Julu's call-up continues the league's growing representation in national teams across West Africa. Niger Tornadoes will need to manage his absence during the international window if their domestic fixtures clash.

Can Julu's current club form translate to international level and help Liberia secure their first qualifying points against a Cape Verde side that typically dominates this fixture?
