Lyon downs Palace 3-2, Sunderland clinches late win vs Torreense

Lyon beat Crystal Palace 3-2 at Groupama Stadium on Oct 15, 2026, with goals from Corentin Tolisso, Ernest Nuamah and Pavel Sulc; Palace replied through Yeremy Pino and Daichi Kamada. Meanwhile Sunderland secured a dramatic 2-1 win over Portuguese second-division side Torreense after Noah Sadiki's 93rd-minute winner cancelled an early lead by Volnei Feltes and Jules Ahoka's equalizer.

The results keep Lyon, Bayer Leverkusen, Juventus, Benfica and Bournemouth with perfect starts in the Europa League league phase; Sunderland's comeback extends their unbeaten run. Notably, Nigerian Super Falcons goalkeeper Comfort Erhabor recently joined Crystal Palace, linking the Europa League action to a Nigerian player.
