Manchester City secured the signing of Ghanaian striker Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth for a reported £65 million ($87 million) on Friday. The 26-year-old, who has scored 10 Premier League goals this season, signed a five-and-a-half-year deal. Liverpool, Manchester United, and Tottenham were also interested, but City activated his buyout clause before its Saturday expiration.

Semenyo, who scored a stoppage-time winner against Tottenham on Wednesday in his final Cherries match, joins City to boost their challenge for silverware on four fronts. Currently six points behind Arsenal in the Premier League, City also face FA Cup, League Cup, and Champions League fixtures. The winger fills a gap in City's squad with Savinho injured and Omar Marmoush at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The £65m transfer marks the first major January window move by Premier League clubs. City remain active in the market, targeting Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi on a free transfer when his contract expires in June. Guardiola's men host Exeter in the FA Cup on Saturday, where Semenyo could make his debut.
