Matthaus names Arsenal, Barcelona, Real Madrid, PSG, Bayern as UCL favourites
Germany legend Lothar Matthaus has named Arsenal, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich as the five favourites to win this season’s UEFA Champions League. Matthaus told Sky Germany that, while these sides lead the pack, Real Madrid still needs to gel as a team after their weekend draw against Real Betis, and that Jose Mourinho must forge a cohesive unit from the squad. He also noted that PSG won last season’s title by defeating Arsenal in the final.
The Champions League kicks off Tuesday evening, with the opening fixture featuring Real Madrid hosting Inter Milan at the Santiago Bernabeu. Several other matches are scheduled for the same night.
