Melaye vows legal challenge over Tinubu's dual APC campaign role, calls arrangement 'disgraceful'

Senator Dino Melaye, ADC chieftain in Kogi State, criticized President Tinubu's decision to serve as both APC presidential candidate and chairman of his 2027 campaign council, calling it unprecedented globally and evidence of APC's lack of confidence. He spoke in a Sunday video on his X account, alleging duplicated committee positions in the 'very bogus' council structure.

Melaye specifically questioned the appointment of Zacch Adedeji, chairman of the Nigerian Revenue Service (formerly FIRS), to a fundraising role in Tinubu's campaign, arguing it creates conflict of interest as a public official handling revenue collection. He vowed to challenge this in court citing Public Service Rules, declaring 'If that is not conflict of interest, I don't know what else it would be.'

The ADC chieftain framed the opposition as 'a battle of no retreat, no surrender,' describing Tinubu's dual role as 'a big shame' and 'a disgrace' amid intensifying 2027 election preparations. Melaye insisted the campaign to prevent Tinubu's re-election must continue with renewed determination despite the president's strategies.
