Messi Claims Second Straight MLS Golden Boot as Inter Miami Secures Playoff Spot

Messi secures second consecutive MLS Golden Boot with 26 goals, becoming the league's first back-to-back winner as Inter Miami drew 3-3 with Charlotte on Saturday. The Argentine didn't score but delivered two corner assists, helping Miami clinch second place in the Eastern Conference and home-field advantage for the first two playoff rounds.

Nashville SC shattered the MLS single-season points record with 77, topping the East ahead of Miami's 60 points. Miami opens playoffs against Columbus Crew, while Nashville faces the Orlando-Cincinnati wildcard winner. In the West, Vancouver Whitecaps finished second overall, setting up a potential MLS Cup rematch with Miami.

At 39, Messi's consistency remains remarkable—26 goals and 16 assists in 29 matches. For Nigerian fans tracking global football, this reinforces his case as the sport's ultimate competitor, even in a league often dismissed as "retirement territory."

With Miami's defensive frailties exposed (three goals conceded to Charlotte), can Messi's brilliance overcome structural weaknesses in a knockout format, or will Nashville's historic regular season translate to playoff dominance?
