Minority Caucus appoints Afam Ogene as new House of Representatives spokesperson
Minority Caucus of the 10th House of Representatives has appointed Afam Victor Ogene as its new spokesperson. The announcement came in a statement issued on Saturday by Minority Leader Fredrick Agbedi, who said the caucus approved the appointment during an online meeting held on Friday, June 19, 2026. Ogene, who represents Ogbaru Federal Constituency in Anambra State and currently leads the Nigeria Democratic Party caucus in the House, was chosen for his legislative experience, mastery of parliamentary procedures, and commitment to democratic governance. A former journalist and editor, he will coordinate communication between the caucus and the public, articulate the group's position on national issues and legislative matters, and help strengthen the caucus's oversight role in holding the Executive accountable.
The caucus said Ogene's background in public communication will improve its engagement with Nigerians and reinforce checks and balances in the 10th Assembly. It also urged media and the public to support him in carrying out his responsibilities. For citizens interested in the opposition's stance on bills, policies, and government actions, Ogene's statements will be a key source of information moving forward.
