Jose Mourinho has dismissed rumours linking him to the Real Madrid manager position, telling the media to stop featuring him in 'soap operas'. The Portuguese coach, speaking after his Benfica side's 2-0 win over Rio Ave on Saturday night, said the speculations are made up. Mourinho is currently manager at Benfica, which he joined earlier this season. The dismissal of Xabi Alonso last week has sparked speculation about his successor, with former Real Madrid player Álvaro Arbeloa currently in interim charge. Reports suggest Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez may favour Jürgen Klopp for the role. Mourinho previously managed Real Madrid from 2010 to 2013, winning La Liga in the 2011-12 season and setting records for points, goals, and wins in a single campaign. He left the club in 2013 to return to Chelsea. Several high-profile managers have been linked with the Bernabéu job following Alonso's dismissal. Are these persistent rumours about manager moves distracting from the actual football being played on the pitch?
