MURIC demands NYSC scrapping if safety not guaranteed
Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has demanded the Federal Government scrap the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) if it cannot guarantee the safety of corps members. The group also called for full life insurance for every Nigerian undertaking the one-year service and mandatory military escorts for travel to high-risk zones. MURIC made the demands in a statement signed by Executive Director Professor Ishaq Akintola, citing ongoing deaths and property losses of young graduates during service. The organisation stated: 'FG must transform NYSC from a pact with death to a journey through life and hope.' The demands include full life insurance, military escorts for high-risk areas, and prohibition of parental responsibility abdication.
