NAFDAC has blacklisted Onifam Laboratories Ltd, its Managing Director and CEO, directors, and all affiliated individuals and entities effective immediately following investigations into regulatory violations. The agency found the company engaged in regulatory misrepresentation, misused NAFDAC approvals and certificates, improperly registered and transferred pharmaceutical products, and bypassed established regulatory procedures, violating the NAFDAC Act and related laws.

The sanctions prohibit Onifam and associated parties from participating in any pharmaceutical business regulated by NAFDAC in Nigeria, including applying for or benefiting from registrations, licenses, permits, or operating as manufacturers, importers, distributors, or in any other regulated capacity. NAFDAC warned it could impose additional enforcement and legal measures where necessary to protect public health and uphold medicine regulatory integrity.

This action is part of NAFDAC's intensified crackdown on counterfeit medicines, following recent seizures of fake alcoholic beverages worth N350 million in Lagos (April) and over 10 million doses of counterfeit anti-malaria medicines worth N3 billion in Lagos (February). While NAFDAC didn't disclose specific products involved in Onifam's case or whether criminal prosecutions will follow, the blacklist remains in force until the agency decides otherwise.

If you're involved in pharmaceutical supply chains, verify that your suppliers and products comply with NAFDAC regulations to avoid disruptions from this blacklist.
