NAFDAC has issued a precautionary recall of Aptamil and Cow & Gate infant formulas due to potential contamination with cereulide, a toxin from Bacillus cereus bacteria. The affected batches include Aptamil 1 From Birth First (800g, expires 31-10-2026), Cow & Gate 1 First Infant Milk (700g, dates 31 July 2026-31 Jan 2027), and others manufactured in Ireland and Hungary. Cereulide can cause nausea and severe vomiting, particularly in infants. The recall does not affect Nigeria-specific Aptamil products meeting Codex standards. Consumers should check products against the list, report illegal imports to NAFDAC, and use authorized suppliers. NAFDAC also warns about falsified Dostinex tablets and seized counterfeit malaria medicines.
