NAFDAC warns public over fake Avastin injection in circulation

NAFDAC has issued a public alert about counterfeit Avastin vials 400 mg/16 ml circulating in Nigeria. The fake products, manufactured by Roche Diagnostics GmbH, bear batch numbers K1830T71 and H0375B01 with manufacturing dates 04/2025 and 02/2025, and expiry dates 05/2028 and 12/2027. NAFDAC has directed zonal directors and state coordinators to intensify surveillance and remove these fake products from the supply chain. Importers, distributors, retailers, healthcare professionals, and caregivers are advised to exercise extreme caution, obtain medicines only from authorized suppliers, and verify authenticity. Healthcare professionals and consumers are urged to report any suspected cases of fake medicines or adverse effects to the nearest NAFDAC office. This alert will be shared with the WHO Global Surveillance and Monitoring System.
