NAHCO announces leadership shakeup: Fanimokun, Salman retire; Shobayo as new VC, two new directors appointed
Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCO) announced the retirement of Vice Chairman Akinwumi Godson Fanimokun (effective June 15, 2026) and Non-Executive Director Taofeeq Oluwatoyin Salman (effective June 30, 2026) after eight years on the board. Effective July 1, 2026, Tajudeen Omoshola Shobayo becomes Vice Chairman, while Wolemi Esan (SAN) and Julius B. Omodayo-Owotuga join as new Non-Executive Directors.
Fanimokun remains a significant shareholder despite retiring, having sold 2.41 million shares (valued at ₦491.2 million at ₦203.50/share) between May 18-22, 2026, reducing his stake from 0.36% to 0.21% of NAHCO's issued shares. Esan brings over 20 years expertise in commercial litigation, arbitration, and infrastructure projects including airport concessions. Omodayo-Owotuga brings power, financial services, and energy sector experience, having served as Deputy CEO of Geregu Power Plc and currently as Executive Director at First Bank of Nigeria Limited.
These leadership changes come amid NAHCO's role in managing ground handling services at Nigerian airports. Investors may view Fanimokun's share sale as a signal, while aviation stakeholders should note the new directors' sector-specific expertise. The board reshuffle takes effect next week, with Shobayo assuming VC duties from July 1.
What should investors and aviation industry stakeholders know about how this leadership shift might impact NAHCO's operational strategy or airport service quality going forward?
