National Blood Service Agency Director General Prof. Saleh Yuguda calls for increased voluntary blood donation nationwide, announcing the 2026 World Blood Donor Day slogan: 'One Drop of Humanity. Give Blood. Save Lives.' The campaign aims to ensure safe, sustainable blood supply through regular, voluntary, unpaid donations across Nigeria.

The NBSA will expand blood donation advocacy beyond hospitals into communities, engaging traditional institutions, youth groups, faith-based organizations and local stakeholders. This community-based approach aims to dispel misconceptions, improve public understanding and build sustainable donor pools capable of meeting national blood needs.

World Blood Donor Day is annually observed on June 14 to honor voluntary donors and advocate stronger blood systems for emergency care, maternal health services, surgical procedures and treatment for various medical conditions. Blood donation is a critical humanitarian act that saves lives.

Will you donate blood or organize a blood drive in your community this year?
