NCAA Orders Overland Airways to Refund VAT on Pre-January 1 Tickets
Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has directed Overland Airways to refund passengers who were charged Value Added Tax (VAT) on tickets purchased before January 1, 2026. The regulator's Director of Public Affairs, Michael Achimugu, confirmed the directive on Friday, stating that clarification had been received from the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) regarding the new tax laws. According to Achimugu, tickets bought in 2025 but subject to VAT charges at check-in in 2026 were incorrectly applied, as the new tax regime did not affect pre-January 1 purchases. Overland Airways has committed to initiating refunds for affected passengers. The NCAA reiterated its commitment to protecting consumer rights and ensuring compliance with aviation and fiscal regulations.
