NCAA urges aviation unions to dialogue, awaits minister's return to resolve strike

Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) said on August 11 that the ongoing strike by aviation unions will be addressed as soon as Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo returns from an overseas trip. In a statement, Director General Civil Aviation Captain Chris Ona Najomo appealed to the unions to sheathe their swords and engage in dialogue, noting that a meeting convened by the minister last week failed because airline operators did not attend. Najomo emphasized that flight safety remains uncompromised and the NCAA continues to exercise its statutory safety oversight, while regretting the inconvenience caused to passengers and other stakeholders. He expressed confidence that the matter will be resolved shortly and normal flight operations will resume as soon as practicable.

The strike has disrupted flights and left travelers uncertain about schedules. Passengers are advised to check with airlines for updates and consider alternative travel arrangements if needed. Normal operations are expected to resume once the minister returns and the outstanding issues are settled.
