NCC appoints Princess Emiko as interim DBI chairman
NCC appoints Princess Oforitsenere Emiko as Interim Chairman of Digital Bridge Institute Governing Board, effective immediately. She joins Engr. Abraham Oshadami and Ms. Rimini Makama as interim board members to drive DBI's transformation for Nigeria's digital economy future.
The move repositions DBI, established in 2004 for telecom and IT training, as Nigeria's communications sector expands into a broad digital economy. With 70% of Nigerians under 30, the transformation aims to equip young people with advanced technical skills to close the capability gap slowing technology adoption.
DBI will focus on five areas: Education and Training, Research and Development, Innovation, Economic Impact and Growth, and Emerging Policy and Regulation. The strategy was developed through consultations with multiple government agencies including Federal Ministry of Education, TETFund, Ministry of Science and Technology, and NASENI.
Will this appointment accelerate Nigeria's digital workforce development, or does Nigeria need more fundamental policy changes to bridge the technology capability gap?
