NCC SetsMarch 20 Deadline for National Telecom Policy Review
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has extended the deadline for stakeholders to submit feedback on the National Telecommunications Policy (NTP) 2000 to March 20, 2026. This follows the publication of consultation papers on the commission's website. Submissions must be addressed to the Executive Vice-Chairman or emailed to [email protected]. The review process, mandated by the Nigerian Communications Act (NCA) 2003, aims to update the 25-year-old policy to address current challenges like data demand and spectrum management. The initiative aligns with the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy's strategic blueprint to drive technical efficiency and collective prosperity. The NTP 2000, which facilitated Nigeria's telecom growth from 500,000 lines to 180 million mobile connections, will be replaced by the NTP 2026 draft after further consultations.
