NCDC Director General Dr Jide Idris announced two new suspected Ebola cases at a press briefing Sunday, emphasizing both remain unconfirmed. The cases bring Nigeria's total suspected count higher, though specific locations for the new cases were not immediately disclosed.

Separately, a suspected case in Rivers State has tested negative and been cleared, the NCDC confirmed. Health officials continue contact tracing and monitoring for all suspected cases. The NCDC activated its incident management system and is coordinating with state health ministries.

Ebola symptoms include sudden fever, fatigue, muscle pain, headache, and sore throat, progressing to vomiting, diarrhea, and in some cases internal and external bleeding. Transmission occurs through direct contact with bodily fluids of infected persons or contaminated surfaces.

Nigerians are advised to follow updates only through official NCDC channels (@NCDCgov on X, ncdc.gov.ng, or 6232 toll-free). Avoid unverified social media claims. Practice standard infection prevention: regular handwashing, avoiding contact with symptomatic individuals, and seeking immediate medical attention if symptoms develop after potential exposure.
