Metro NCoS declares convicted inmate wanted after escaping from accident scene in Yobe Published on April 16, 2026 By Shehu Usman The Nigerian Correctional Service, Yobe State command, has declared a 30-year-old convicted inmate wanted after he escaped when the vehicle conveying inmates from Potiskum to Damaturu was involved in a road crash. The Command’s Public Relation Officer, DSC Abdullahi Adamu, made this known in a statement issued on Wednesday and made available to newsmen in Damaturu. According to the command, the incident happened on April 13, 2026, when the vehicle conveying inmates from MSCC Potiskum to Damaturu was involved in a crash. “The unfortunate incident occurred while efforts are being made to rescue the affected accident victims,” the statement said. The Command revealed the identity of the escaped inmate as Dahiru Mohammed, aged 30, with prison number J/1539/24 was admitted 29/11/24. “The escaped individual is considered dangerous and members of the public are advised not to have any personal dealings with him,” it warned. It appealed to the public to contact any nearest police station or correctional facility in case of any information regarding the whereabouts of the fugitive, warning that harboring a fugitive is a serious criminal offense and punishable by law.
