NDC empowers Obi, Kwankwaso to nominate PCC leadership as election prep intensifies

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has authorized presidential candidate Peter Obi and running mate Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to nominate key members of their Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), including Director-General, spokespeople, and finance officers. The party's National Publicity Secretary announced this following leadership consultations, noting Obi and Kwankwaso held productive meetings to finalize the council composition.

This move signals the opposition's serious preparation for upcoming elections, with emphasis on campaign finance transparency—nominated finance officers will manage funds alongside the party treasurer for INEC reporting compliance. The NDC also stressed internal unity, urging candidates to prevent supporter conflicts and focus solely on defeating the ruling APC, while directing state and LGA chairmen to harmonize party agent lists for national and state elections within two weeks.

Although the PCC inauguration was postponed from early September due to Obi's travel schedule, it will proceed once nominations are received. The party has had a campaign timetable and organogram ready since August, awaiting final inputs. With funding arrangements still being concluded, will this structured opposition approach effectively challenge APC's dominance in the 2027 polls?
