NDC leader Seriake Dickson demands war on terrorist-politicians ahead of 2027 polls

Seriake Dickson, national leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), issued a call on Tuesday, August 17, 2026, via his verified X account for a war against politicians who masquerade as terrorists. He urged consequences, international collaboration to name, shame, and sanction those who buy arms, train armed thugs, recruit militants, and collude with security personnel to maim and kill during election seasons.

Dickson said the practice has become a recurring pattern, with some individuals receiving government patronage, becoming ministers or election candidates, thereby undermining free voting and public confidence in Nigeria’s democracy. He stressed that INEC, security agencies, and all relevant institutions must enable citizens to vote without fear, intimidation, or violence.

The former Bayelsa State governor warned that terrorists masquerading as politicians must be treated as terrorists, with no mercy, and that the NDC is determined to ensure Nigerians’ votes count.
